What is hypnotherapy and how could it help me?

  • Experience the benefits of calm, gentle relaxation
  • Release yourself from stress
  • Empowering you to take control of your life

Hypnotherapy is a complimentary therapy which enables you to use your subconscious mind to bring about changes in thoughts, feelings and behaviour. Hypnosis is a deeply relaxed state of mind and body. Once you are fully relaxed your mind becomes open to change and we can work together to allow you to live and enjoy life to the full, free from any burdens which may have held you back. Your subconscious is very powerful. This is the place where memories are stored, habits are formed and incredible changes can take place.

Can everyone be hypnotised?

Many people wonder if they can be hypnotized and the majority of people can, provided they wish to. Hypnosis is not mind control. In a trance you remain aware of your surroundings and fully in control. Should you wish to end the session at any time you can easily do so. A session of hypnotherapy is a very pleasant and enjoyable experience. It is very common for my clients to ask me if hypnotherapy is like stage hypnosis. Although stage hypnosis and hypnotherapy both use hypnosis this is where the similarity ends. The purpose of stage hypnosis is entertainment and the people volunteering to go on stage know that they will be expected to participate in the show. Hypnotherapy uses hypnosis to allow you to make positive changed to your life.

What will it be like?

The experience of hypnosis is different for every individual. You are likely to experience mental, physical and emotional relaxation. It is sometimes likened to daydreaming or the feeling as you begin to drift off to sleep. As your muscles relax you may experience a sensation of weightlessness or heaviness or you may not notice any change in sensation. However you feel will be right for you and all you need to do is relax and enjoy the experience.

Hypnotherapy can help with a wide range of issues from dealing with stress more effectively and building confidence, relieving the symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), aiding natural child birth to increasing athletic potential. The possibilities are endless! You have the ability to achieve anything you put your mind to and hypnotherapy can help you to unlock that potential.

As hypnotherapy is a complimentary therapy I would advise you to seek medical advice before embarking on a course of treatment.
