I feel very privileged to be a hypnotherapist. Often when I talk to people about my line of work they will share with me an issue they are having or an experience they have had. It is comforting in a way to hear that we all experience hard times, fears and anxieties. We are  human after all.

One of the most common thing people tell me about is their phobias and this is something I am regularly working on with my clients. The seed for developing a phobia is often planted by a childhood experience. Hypnotherapy can not only help alleviate the anxiety and stress associated with a fear, but also help to identify the cause.

So many of us find our lives limited my phobias and feel that this is something that we just have to live with. This is really not the case. You can achieve freedom from your phobia even if you have been living with it for a long time. I would encourage anyone to share their worries with someone you trust. You will be surprised to find how many others share your fear or have a fear of their own.

Babies are usually born with a fear of heights and loud noises – all other phobias seem to be learned as we grow up. Humans certainly have a tendency to fear snakes and creepy crawlies, something which may have been an evolutionary advantage when we were still hunter gatherers. However if a baby is shown a snake and has not been taught by caregivers that the creature is dangerous they will show  no  fear. It is possible to unlearn this fear.

It is such a liberating experience to be freed from your phobia. Please contact me if you would like to know more.
