CAN EVERYONE BE HYPNOTIZED?
The majority of people can be hypnotized, provided they wish to be. Some people find it easier than others. Hypnotizability increases with practice and most people will easily enter a trace state after one or two sessions. I will teach you self-hypnosis techniques to use in between sessions. These skills will allow you to build on everything we achieve and you will continue to use them once the therapy has finished. However hypnotherapy is not suitable for everyone. People with a serious mental health problem or those under the influence of alcohol or recreational drugs cannot be treated with hypnotherapy.
As hypnotherapy is a complimentary therapy I would advise you to seek medical advice before embarking on a course of treatment.
IS IT LIKE STAGE HYPNOSIS?
Not at all! Although stage hypnosis and hypnotherapy both use hypnosis this is where the similarity ends. The purpose of stage hypnosis is entertainment and the people volunteering to go on stage know that they will be expected to participate in the show. They may be asked to do funny and sometimes embarrassing things. As volunteers that have not been forced to do any of these things and they willingly go along with the suggestions.
WILL I REMEMBER WHAT HAPPENED?
During a hypnotherapy session you are fully aware of what is happening and you will usually remember everything that happens. As with a normal conversation you may not remember every exact detail. Your subconscious will remember everything.
WILL HYPNOTHERAPY BE HELPFUL FOR MY PARTICULAR NEEDS?
Hypnotherapy can help with a wide range of issues from dealing with stress more effectively and building confidence to relieving the symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)*, aiding natural child birth to increasing athletic potential. The possibilities are endless! You have the ability to achieve anything you put your mind to and hypnotherapy can help you to unlock that potential. Increasingly hypnotherapy is gaining more recognition in the medical world. I offer hypnotherapy, relaxation, stress management and mindfulness in Leeds.
*The National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) recognizes hypnotherapy as a treatment for Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). Hypnotherapy can be use in tandem with medical treatments.
HOW MUCH DOES HYPNOTHERAPY COST?
Session One (Consultation 90 minutes) – £65
Subsequent sessions (usually 1 hour) – £55 per session
Smoking cessation package (Leeds) – £150 (usually can be achieved in 1 session)
Half hour one to one relaxation session – £25
WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE TO BE HYPNOTIZED?
The experience of hypnosis is different for every individual. You are likely to experience mental, physical and emotional relaxation. It is sometimes likened to daydreaming or the feeling as you begin to drift off to sleep. Hypnosis is a deeply relaxed state of mind and body. As your muscles relax you may experience a sensation of weightlessness or heaviness or you may not notice any change in sensation. However you feel will be right for you and all you need to do is relax and enjoy the experience.
WILL I LOSE CONTROL?
Hypnotherapy involves the therapist and client working together. A hypnotherapist cannot make you do anything which is against you will or which would not be acceptable to your moral code. There is no question of you being controlled or manipulated.
HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?
This very much depends on your reason for seeking hypnotherapy. Smoking cessation can be achieved in just one session. Most other issues will require between 2 and 6 sessions. If you are seeking hypnotherapy for weight loss you will usually require at least 4 sessions.
HOW WILL YOU HELP ME STOP SMOKING?
My smoking cessation package involves one 2 hour session. During which we will increase your motivation to become smoke free and engage in a focussed session of hypnotherapy. You will be given material to take away which will support you as a non-smoker. This will include a recording to use after the session. I am based in North Leeds.
